✨ Local Spotlight: Belfast ✨

Back in June, upsetting headlines about violence in Belfast spread across the news. We’re grateful to our wonderful ex-colleague Chris McCartney, now working for Repair Cafe Northern Ireland, for sharing news with us about the extraordinary community mobilisation that happened in response.
In just two days, almost £200,000 was raised to support the people affected, and over 1,000 volunteers coordinated emergency accommodation, meals, groceries, medication pickups, childcare support and more. Chris reports that local Transition-connected activists played their part in this mobilisation, drawing on relationships built through regular community gatherings.
This powerful response, including Belfast's largest ever anti-racism rally - reminds us how collective action, care and mutual aid can offer hope in challenging times. Read Chris' full post on Vive
Share your news with us
